Recruit Training is the foundation upon which successful Sea Cadet careers are built. Completing Recruit Training at RTC Great Lakes is something exceptional that you'll be proud of and will remember for years to come. RTC Great Lakes is the Navy's only boot camp. Our instructors are active duty USN Recruit Division Commanders....professional, dedicated men and women to know how to teach and guide, transforming civilians into sailors. We offer a challenging experience in a military environment, where safety for all hands is our primary concern. If you want to train with the best the United States Navy has to offer, complete your Recruit Training with us at RTC Great Lakes. |
||
|
Recruit Trainings are not run by specific units or divisions. The are arranged to support geographic areas. Unfortunately, Recruit Training is held in the Summer (June-August), There may be a Recruit Training site earlier in the year, but it may be all the way across the country. You are encouraged to attend the Recruit Training site in your area, because a billet has been specifically set aside for you. If you travel to another recruit training site, you will be taking a billet intended for a Cadet in that area who may either have to travel somewhere else (compounding the problem) or not being able to attend at all. Sometimes, based on holiday schedules, Recruit Trainings are held between Christmas and New Year's Day. Recruit Training is a very important step in a Cadet's career development and a full 9 or 14 days cycle is the most beneficial. Keep and eye out for the Summer or Winter Training Schedule to find out when the Recruit Training will be scheduled. |

ENGINEERING EN-IL
(18-31 JUL 2010) COMSUMTRACOMGLKS WEB SITE |
|
| The powerful
ships of the United States Navy, Coast Guard, or
Merchant Marine cannot accomplish their mission without
a well run engine room, and efficient, highly trained
men and women to operate, maintain, and repair their
engines and engineering systems. Think you'd like a career in any of the following ratings (Gas Turbine System Technician, Machinist's Mate, Electronics Technician, Engineman, Hull Maintenance Technician, Damage Controlman, Machinery Repairman, or Electrician's Mate)? Come explore these career opportunities where the Navy trains sailors who will be part of the essential engineering and hull ratings, at the Center for Naval Engineering, Great Lakes (CNE). At CNE, you'll complete a rigorous hands-on survey course based on the Basic Engineering Common Curriculum (BECC) where all service members pursuing an engineering rating start their careers. While there is some classroom time, the bulk of this training is hands-on, and you will get experience with the care, feeding, and maintenance of gas turbine and diesel engines. Please note there are special uniform requirements for this training evolution (coveralls and steel-toed boondockers/work boots) detailed in the Welcome Letter. |
